Dust storm causes pileup on Arizona interstate

Authorities have closed a portion of Interstate 10 northwest of Tucson, Ariz., after a dust storm led to a multi-vehicle pileup. At least one person was confirmed dead.

Several emergency crews were responding to a multi-vehicle crash scene near Picacho along Interstate 10. The Arizona Daily Star reported the crashes were along both sides of the interstate. Visibility has been cut to zero because of intense dust blowing in the area.

Northwest Fire Dept. Capt. Adam Goldberg said travel in both directions of the interstate was restricted.

Witnesses told KVOA-TV in Tucson as many as 30 vehicles may be involved.

There were reports of injuries, and several emergency crews are responding.
