Most Mediacom customers have service ... - Broadband Expert

Last Thursday, May 31st, a fire took out a Mediacom Communications facility.? Four counties in the southeastern part of Iowa were without service for a good part of a week

Telephone and Internet services disappeared in a shower of sparks and smoke.? The counties of Louisa, Henry, Lee and Des Moines were without service.? Approximately 85% of customers have had service restored as of today.

Cable TV services faired a lot better than the broadband services.? Service was restored for the cable subscribers within three hours.

Just about all of the equipment supplying phone and Internet service was lost.? It took technicians days to get enough replacement equipment.

After cleanup from the fire, the physical installation commenced.? After the install, the equipment needed to be configured.? Technicians reportedly worked nonstop all throughout Monday evening restoring service to the majority of Mediacom?s customers.

This coming weekend, technicians will be available to help restore those customers whose home equipment may not work.

The crews at Mediacom Communications ought to be congratulated in recovering from a whole facility being destroyed.? This shows no matter how well prepared you are, Mother Nature can still cause a great setback when she wants to.
