Slingbox 350 and 500 show up unannounced in Best Buy, flaunt 1080p and built-in WiFi

Slingbox 350 and 500 show unannounced in Best Buy, flaunt 1080p and builtin WiFi

You might say Dave Zatz just had a happy accident. While he was hunting for the as yet unofficial Logitech Harmony Touch in Best Buy, he discovered the Slingbox 350 and 500 -- two more living room gadgets that have yet to receive an official introduction. The placeshifting hubs both look to be major improvements over the aging Slingbox Pro HD and Solo, making 1080p streaming available as long as the connection is up to snuff. Those who spring for the 500 should also get long overdue support for WiFi without having to use a wireless bridge, although they may miss the Pro HD's ATSC tuner. Outside of the networking, Sling Media is making expansion its upsell angle: the 500 supports USB media sharing and HDMI, while the 350 has to make do with whatever can pipe through its component and composite jacks. Zatz was unfortunately foiled in an attempt to buy one of the new Slingboxes and couldn't get final pricing, but Best Buy's suggestion to try again around mid-October hints that we won't have long to wait for a much-needed upgrade to our remote TV viewing.

Thousands of Poles protest pro-market reforms

(AP) ? Thousands of Poles blew horns, prayed and waved flags in downtown Warsaw on Saturday to show their anger over a new law that raises the retirement age and a host of other issues.

The protest was organized by the conservative and nationalistic opposition party Law and Justice, led by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, as well as the Solidarity trade union and other groups.

Dubbed "Wake Up, Poland," the protest is an expression of the deep anxieties gripping many Poles as the government tries to lower state debt by embracing pro-market reforms that are weakening the social safety net.

Many of the protesters are also conservative Catholics ill at ease in a country that is quickly growing more secular as it grows wealthier and more integrated with the West.

A key source of anger for the protesters is a new law put through by the pro-market government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk which will gradually raise the retirement age to 67 for all Poles from 60 for women and 65 for men.

Participants also expressed anger at a decision by the Polish national broadcasting council to strip a Catholic TV station, TV Trwam, of a free digital TV signal. They argue that it marks a blow to freedom of expression and an attempt to silence their conservative and Catholic world view. The broadcasting council, however, has said the station lost its transmission rights because of a lack of transparency in its funding.

Protesters sang patriotic and religious songs as they gathered at Three Crosses Square in downtown Warsaw, some of them holding rosaries.

"Our presence here is a sign of opposition to the discrimination against Catholic media and TV Trwam," Zbigniew Ziobro, a leading conservative politician, told protesters, according to the news agency PAP.

Police had no estimate yet for the number of protesters, but private broadcaster TVN24 said tens of thousands turned out.

Chelsea rides Torres past Arsenal

Man of the Match: It wasn?t quite his old self, but ?Fernando Torres flashed a little bit of his peak Liverpool form with a creative finish around Laurent Koscielny in the 20th minute, giving Chelsea the lead. But despite the goal and some good play with the ball at his feet, Torres?s main contributions came when Chelsea wasn?t in possession, the Blues? striker proving a pest tracking back to disrupt Arsenal, particularly when the Gunners were hogging the ball in the second half.

NBC Sports: Chelsea wins 2-1 at Arsenal to stay top of EPL

Packaged for takeaway:

  • The teams matched up in near-identical formations: lone strikers up top; four at the back; two deep midfielders. With Ramires and John Obi Mikel set to sit deep in Chelsea?s midfield, Arsenal wasn?t going to enjoy the same advantages they did against Manchester City.
  • Of note, given this was Chelsea?s first big Premier League match of the year: Frank Lampard was on the bench (though he did start against Juventus in Champions League).
  • One of Arsenal?s advantages against City was in possession, but on Saturday, it was Chelsea who controlled most of the play early. The Gunners would even the numbers by half, but over the first 45 minutes, this wasn?t your typical Arsenal match. Ars?ne Wenger?s side wasn?t able to dominate the ball.
  • The home side was dealt a blow early with Abou Diaby had to come off, the midfielder straining his left hip after a 12th minute shot on goal. Wenger brought on?Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, pushing Aaron Ramsey to the middle.
  • It?s the story of Diaby?s career: injuries. The frequency with which he?s hurt in matches has to be a tactical concern. Even if Diaby?s healthy, you can?t start him if you don?t have a substitute to spare.
  • Chelsea broke through fist, with Torres wrapping his right leg around Laurent Koscielny to redirect a Juan Mata restart past Vito Mannone at the left (far) post. For those hoping Torres can somebody (after all this time) find his old self, it was a very encouraging goal, one set up after a touch from the Chelsea striker helped draw the original foul, Thomas Vermaelen caught diving in for a ball perfectly laid off for Eden Hazard.
  • Even after the goal, it took Arsenal some time to get going. Ramsey was slowing down play through the middle, getting caught on the ball, while Oxlade Chamberlain still hadn?t found a rhythm. It was only after the Gunners started pestering Oscar, himself caught on the ball multiple times near the end of the half, that Arsenal came into the game.
  • That was also the same time that Santi Cazorla started popping up everywhere. After being relatively quiet for the first third of the match, Cazorla started coming a little deeper for the ball, making some runs to the right that he wasn?t making before ? generally trying to get more involved.
  • Near the 40th minute, Cazorla?s work helped create a chance down the right, the Spaniard putting a shot out of play off a pass from Carl Jenkinson. Although nothing came from it, the movement exposed two things about Chelsea?s defense that would come into play a few minutes later. First, Ashley Cole was playing very narrow on the left, giving Jenkinson or Oxlade Chamberlain all the room they wanted down the attack?s right. Second, Chelsea?s line was collapsing far too deep ? right to the edge of Petr Cech?s six-yard box.
  • In the 43rd minute, those factors conspired to give Arsenal their equalizer. Jenkinson played a ball wide to Chamberlain, whose cross found Gervinho open near the spot, set up in front of the defense but behind the midfield two. The Ivorian was able to trap, turn and fire the equalizer past Cech.
  • The second half opened with Arsenal in firm control, something that worked against them when a 52nd minute Mikel Arteta giveaway allowed Chelsea to catch the Gunners on the counter. A fifty-fifty ball won by Ramires forced Vermaelen to take down Torres 35 yards for goal, a textbook professional foul (for which he saw yellow).
  • Mata put the ensuing restart at the far post, Mannone frozen when a ball grazed off Koscielny?s left shin and in.
  • From there, Chelsea showed what?s becoming a trademark pragmatism under Roberto Di Matteo. They didn?t threaten Mannone again, but they didn?t need to. Staunchly maintaining their shape while getting good work from Ramires and Torres, Chelsea made their good fortune hold up.
  • In doing so, they also created a match that played to Arsenal?s reputation. No doubt Gooners will insist they outplayed Chelsea, a debatable assertion. Even if you grant it, Saturday?s game adds to a long list of Arsenal results that betray their on-field play. It?s still unclear when they will award trophies for finishing with the most style points.
  • They do award trophies for finishing first, which is where Chelsea stay with three points at the Emirates. The result also alleviated the biggest qualm about Chelsea?s start: A weak schedule. Their first big win of the season may have announced the Blues as title contenders.

Sex and the Long Term Relationship ? LOL? Love

?

Recently I had the chance to sit around with some lady friends and talk about sex, specifically in long-term relationships.? We came to the conclusion that it gets an undeservedly bad reputation from lots of places; magazines, TV and movies to name a few.? The mass media expectation seems to be if you have been in a relationship for more than a few years your sex life is likely over.? I had someone ask me not too long ago for a book or a movie that featured a married couple who had a hot sex life with each other.? I couldn?t think of any.

?

So why does everyone assume our sex lives have a shelf life of 1 to 2 years per partner?? Why do we overlook the benefits a long term committed relationship can have on our sexual relationships?? Here are just a few of the examples of positive benefits my friends and I discussed.

?

Trust.? When you have lived through some tough stuff with your partner, maybe had a kid or two, shared your bills, responsibilities, successes and failures you might tend to worry less about whether they still find you attractive now that you are a few years older.? You might feel more comfortable taking sexual risks and trying new things with a partner you trust to see you through the tough times.

?

Experience.? There is a level to which people can be skilled lovers when they have years of experience with each other that is difficult for new partnerships to live up to.? Sure, you can have some natural talent for sexy skills but you won?t have the familiarity with the cues long term lovers easily take from each other?s reactions.

?

Emotional depth.? It is true, a one night stand can be hot and exciting.? One night stands can happen between people who care about each other as well, but the emotional depth partners build through years of experience with each other is a powerful thing that can take sex to a different level of connection and meaning.

?

Certainly, long term partners have their own struggles.? They have to fight against life stress to keep the passion for each other that seemed so forthcoming before they had so many shared responsibilities.? People change over the years and so do their sexual wants and needs.? Some people make great partners and struggle to be great lovers.? Passion is a slippery fish that can be tough to hold on to.? But amidst all the challenges many long term sexual partners develop some pretty incredible relationships and have some really great sex!

?

I?d love to hear from people in sexy long term relationships.? Any words of wisdom?? Just want to tell us how great your partner is?? Leave a comment below!

US Dollar Trades Lower Against Euro Following Profit Taking on ...

The US dollar traded lower against most other major currencies following bullish forex news that caused prices to rise to the point where traders began profit taking by selling the greenback, erasing its earlier gains. In September 26 Asian trading, the EUR/USD reached 1.2906, a 0.05% increase. The currency pair breached the 1.2000 mark and reached a low of 1.2847 as trading in the European sessions opened.

The dollar strengthened to profit taking levels following the release of July US composite housing data showing that home prices continued to increase during the period, an indicator that the housing market is on track to recover. The Standard & Poor/ Case-Shiller Home Price Indices rose by a higher-than-expected 1.2% in July on a year-to-year basis compared with the same period last year. Analysts had expected that the Index would rise by 1% during the period. On a month-to-month basis, the Index increased 4% in July, the sixth month in a row it had increased. However, the monthly data failed to meet analysts? expectations, since they had anticipated it would increase by nine percent. The S&P/Case-Shiller Indices are considered the leading measure of the country?s residential housing market as it monitors the value of house prices nationwide as well as in 20 metropolitan areas.

The markets shrugged off criticisms of US monetary policy made by Federal Reserve governor Charles Plosser, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Plosser said that quantitative easing, which is intended to lower interest rates in order to stimulate borrowing by increasing the financial system?s liquidity, would not work in its stated aim of increasing job creation and investment simply because businesses and households would rather pay down existing debt rather than taking on new debt. However, traders continued to take profit on the green buck.

?

?

Adding to traders? bullishness on the dollar was positive forex news on US consumer confidence. The monthly Consumer Confidence Survey conducted by The Conference Board rebounded to 70.3 in September after declining to 61.3 in August, its highest reading since the 71.6 recorded in February 2012. The Index also outpaced analysts? expectations of a 63.0 reading. The other sub-indices also reported increases, with the Present Situation Index increasing to 50.2 in September from 46.5 in the previous month while the Expectations Index grew to 83.7 during the period from 71.1.

Meanwhile, the euro found support following positive forex news that Germany?s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble had supported moves to defend the single currency. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Helsinki, Schauble called for European policymakers to do everything in their power to defend the euro.

Newly-released positive forex news regarding US home sales is expected to boost the dollar further. According to figures from the Commerce Department, new home sales in August reached 373,000. The figure, while slightly lower than the revised 374,000 figure recorded in July, was the strongest recorded since April 2010, a sign that the US housing market may be on the road to recovery. The increase was attributed to record-low borrowing costs as well as a fall in the supply of foreclosed homes, which is easing the downward pressure on housing prices.

Ahmadinejad blasts West for 'trampling' on rights of others

Ahmadinejad speaks at U.N. headquarters in New York on Sept. 26, 2012. (Mike Segar/Reuters)

Amid warnings from other world leaders?and planned protests outside?Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, his last speech in front of the world body as president of Iran.

The outspoken Iranian leader called for a "new world order," criticizing capitalism and the United States and Europe for "trampling on the rights of others" and contributing to global poverty and humanitarian failures.

"The history of mankind is marked with failures," Ahmadinejad said in a speech that was not attended by the U.S. delegation in protest.

Ahmadinejad ticked off a long list of those failures?including environmental atrocities, the killing of "millions of innocent people" in U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the "throwing of [Osama bin Laden's] body into the sea" without witnesses and "Zionist"-led world media?before lamenting "how beautiful and pleasant our lives and the history of mankind would have been" without them.

"Poverty is on the rise, and the gap is widening between the rich and the poor," Ahmadinejad said, blaming the "current world order, founded on materialism, that aims to monopolize power, wealth, science and technology for a limited group.

"There is no doubt that the world is in need of a new order and fresh thinking," he said. "An order that aims to revive human dignity and believes in peace and welfare for all walks of life.

"Do people that spend hundreds of millions on election campaigns have the interests of people of the world at heart?" he asked.

[Slideshow: Images from the U.N. General Assembly]

Ahmadinejad's speech came a day after President Barack Obama issued a stern warning to Iran over its nuclear program.

"Make no mistake," the president said. "A nuclear-armed Iran is not a challenge that can be contained. It would threaten the elimination of Israel, the security of Gulf nations and the stability of the global economy."

On Tuesday, Ahmadinejad scoffed at the notion of an Iranian nuclear buildup.

"A nuclear weapon? For what? For what purpose?" Ahmadinejad said in an interview with the Associated Press. "Why would we do that? What would we use it for?"

The leader of Iran?who refuses to refer to Israel by name?also dismissed talk of a U.S. or Israeli military strike on Tehran's nuclear facilities, Agence France-Presse said.

"Uncultured Zionists that threaten the Iranian nation today are never counted and are never paid any attention in the equations of the Iranian nation," Ahmadinejad said earlier this week.

Demonstrators who have been protesting this week outside the hotel where Ahmadinejad is staying were expected to be outside the U.N. while he spoke.

In a statement issued before Ahmadinejad's speech, Erin Pelton, spokeswoman for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, said: "Over the past couple of days, we've seen Mr. Ahmadinejad once again use his trip to the U.N. not to address the legitimate aspirations of the Iranian people but to instead spout paranoid theories and repulsive slurs against Israel."

HONG KONG (AP) ? World stocks mostly drifted lower Monday as investors' growing concerns about the shaky global economy overpowered any remaining optimism over central bank stimulus efforts.

Crude oil tumbled while the dollar rose against the euro but fell against the Japanese yen.

In early European trading, the FTSE 100 index of leading British companies fell 0.3 percent to 5,832.47 and France's CAC 40 dropped 0.7 percent to 3,506.36. Germany's DAX shed 0.3 percent to 7427.70.

U.S. stocks were poised to fall. Dow futures were down 0.1 percent to 13,482.00 while broader S&P 500 futures dipped 0.1 percent to 1,449.70.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index dropped 0.4 percent to close at 9,069.29 and while Seoul's Kospi index was practically unchanged at 2,003.44. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 0.2 percent to 20,694.70 while Sydney's ASX S&P 200 fell 0.5 percent to 4,385.50. Benchmarks in Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand and India also fell.

Strategists at Credit Agricole CIB wrote in a research note that the "euphoria emanating" from recent moves by the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank and Bank of Japan to stimulate growth is "fading quickly."

"The reality of weak growth and underlying structural tensions is coming back to haunt markets."

The Fed vowed in mid-September to buy billions in mortgage securities until the economy improves in a third round of what is known as quantitative easing, or QE3. The ECB and Bank of Japan followed with their own renewed bond-buying plans.

"There is this struggle between optimism towards QE3 and the concern about the global economic slowdown," said Louis Wong, a director at Phillip Securities in Hong Kong. "So investors are weighing the easing measures of central banks and the health of the global economy."

China's Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.3 percent to close at 2,033.19, reversing losses earlier in the day. However, the benchmark is still at its lowest point since January 2009.

Chinese stocks are being hurt by a dispute between China and Japan over disputed islands that have heightened tensions between Asia's two biggest economies.

They're also under pressure as investors worry about what Chinese authorities will do to restart growth amid the country's economic slowdown. Wong said it's unlikely that Chinese authorities will unveil any major stimulus measures ahead of the National Day holiday next week or an expected but still unscheduled Communist Party meeting to hand over power to a new generation of leaders.

"This inaction by the Chinese government also weighs," Wong said.

Asian markets were also reacting to some downbeat economic reports released over the weekend. The U.S. Labor Department said that the unemployment rate rose in more than half of states last month, the latest evidence that hiring remains tepid across the world's biggest economy. The World Trade Organization, meanwhile, cut estimates for global trade growth for this year and next. Both reports came out on Friday after Asian markets closed.

In Tokyo, camera maker Canon Inc. slid 3.7 percent and global automaker Honda Motor Co. dropped 1.8 percent. Australian mining giant Rio Tinto Ltd. lost 2 percent.

In currencies, the euro weakened to $1.2910 from $1.2989 in late trading Friday while the dollar fell to 77.97 Japanese yen from 78.15 yen.

U.S. benchmark crude for October delivery was down 84 cents to $92.05 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 47 cents to settle at $92.89 on Friday.

Smartphone beforehands are likely to abide ? Smart Phone

pThe arrival of the original iPhone in marked a quantum leap for cellphones. Phones had never worked or looked like that.ppThe iPhone that Apple recently introduced with only incremental changes seemed to signal that the industry has entered an era of technological bunny hops.ppFaster chips, bigger screens and speedier wireless Internet connections are among the refinements smartphone users can count on year after year in new models, most of them in miliar rectangular packages. They are improvements, to be sure, but they lack the breathtaking impact the first iPhone had, with its pioneering fusion of software and touch-screen.pp?Since then, it has been kind of incremental,? said Chetan Sharma, an independent mobile analyst. ?It does not feel like there is a big shift.?ppBut big innovations in smartphones are not a thing of the past. Incremental improvements can add up over a span of years, providing the computing horsepower to enable big advances in software. Breakthroughs in smartphone materials, software and even batteries could lead to dramatic changes in how smartphones look and function in the years ahead.ppOne of Apple?s most intriguing recent efforts to redefine the iPhone is Siri, the voice-activated virtual assistant that it introduced in October with the iPhone S. The feature has the potential to change how consumers retrieve information on their iPhones, giving them the ability to find information on the Web with natural voice commands and to perform other tasks. The product, though, has been criticized for its inaccuracies.ppAs Apple continues to improve Siri, Google, the maker of the Android phone operating system, improves on its voice search products. Google and some of its mobile phone partners have also moved toward replacing the credit card with the smartphone using a technology called near-field communications that lets users make payments wirelessly at cash registers.ppThat system has been slow to take off because most merchants do not support it yet. Apple is taking a more cautious approach to new mobile payment systems, offering a feature in its new iPhone software called Passbook for storing electronic versions of store payment, gift and loyalty cards.ppTechnology analysts believe smartphones could again see big changes akin to the one Apple introduced in . Wearable computers are a source of scination among many Silicon Valley companies, especially at Google. The company has put tremendous effort behind Project Glass, eyeglass-like frames that can s, emails and other information from a smartphone on a miniature screen in front of the wearer?s eye.ppGoogle has said it plans to release a version of the technology for developers that would cost , in the first half of next year and a consumer version sometime after that.ppAlthough it could take years of work before the technology reached mass market prices, researchers and some intrepid technology companies said they believe wearable computers could be crucial to unlocking a new category of applications called ?augmented reality.? Virtual objects and information could be overlaid on the real world. Imagine visiting ancient ruins and seeing, through a pair of glasses connected to a smartphone, how the site looked before its decay. People could eventually play augmented reality games that could involve laying virtual ambushes around corners in the real world.pp?A lot of people are thinking about augmented reality as a possible game changer in mobile computing,? said Tobias Hollerer, a computer science professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who is researching the field.ppChanges in materials could also allow for more radical designs for smartphones and peripherals that connect to them. Corning, a company that makes the glass used in iPhone and other smartphone screens, has developed a flexible product called Willow Glass. Paul Tompkins, director of commercial technology at Corning, said the thin and strong glass could give designers a way to make devices that have more curves conform to a part of the body. A wrist device, for example, could much of the information that?s now on a smartphone.pp?We?re really working hard on that with a couple of companies,? he said. ?You can achieve more organic designs.?ppThen there are seemingly mundane technical breakthroughs that could take away some of the more vexing aspects of smartphones, like the need to constantly worry about keeping them charged. In , Apple filed a patent application for a small fuel-cell power supply that could potentially give the iPhone and iPad enough juice to last for weeks without the need to plug them in.ppSharma, the mobile analyst, said cellphone companies in Japan have been working on fuel-cell technology for a long time, but the technology is still years away from being practical. ?Whenever it comes into being in a shape and form that?s implemenle for smartphones, that will be a dramatic shift,? he said.ppConsumers have not been sitting on their wallets waiting for the next big bang. If some people appear bored by the iterative nature of new smartphones, they have not shown it. Indeed, the smartphone market has expanded so much in the past few years, along with Apple?s standing in it, that sales of late-model iPhones dwarf those of the original. In its first full quarter on the market, Apple sold a mere . million iPhones, accounting for million in revenue. In contrast, the company sold million of the devices last quarter, bringing in . billion in revenue.ppSo r, the iPhone shows every sign of repeating the success of its predecessors. After Apple and its wireless carrier partners began takSmartphone beforehands are likely to abideing Web orders for the new iPhone early Friday morning, it took only hours for the initial inventory to be claimed. For latecomers, Apple and some of its wireless carrier partners estimated they could not get them phones until two weeks after Friday, when the iPhone will become available in stores.ppNatalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, called orders for the phone ?incredible.? Timothy D. Cook, Apple?s chief executive, certainly heralded the iPhone last week at an event to introduce the product. He called it ?the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since the iPhone.?ppOthers, outside the Apple marketing echo chamber, who saw less dramatic changes are picking up on the natural downshifting of technology into periods of slower evolutionary change after a big disruption. It happened with autos and home appliances. It happened with PCs. After Apple?s introduction of the Macintosh in , the broader technology business settled on mice and graphical user inteces as essential features of personal computers. The industry spent the next two decades producing variations on that theme. The sility of underlying computing platforms allowed the software industry to flourish and made it easier for users to operate the machines. Similarly, Apple crystallized for much of the cellphone and technology businesses a compelling vision for the modern smartphone. They would have multi-touch screens and sensors like accelerometers for determining the orientation of the device powerful software for taking advantage of that gear with intuitive finger gestures and a mobile app store for unleashing the creativity of independent software developers.pp!?Miles added this commented tag to make proper value get assigned to AccessControlIdentifierppNEWSpptelegramppLocal NewsppWorld Regional NewsppColumnistsppHealth FitnessppDeathsppMultimediappThe Day in PicturesppCourt recordsppWatchdogppPast headlinesppCorrectionsppWeatherppMobileppSPORTSppSports sectionppArea resultsppSports columnistsppHometeamppLIVINGppLiving sectionppMovie reviews showtimesppDVD releasesppTV listingsppDining GuideppTen Things to DoppComicsppSudokuppCrosswordppParadeppGamesppLotteryppEntertainmentppEvents calendarppBUSINESSppBusiness sectionppOn the jobppBusiness NoonppConsumer NewsppOPINIONppOpinion sectionppColumnistsppLetters to the EditorppBlogsppAs I See ItppArticle commentsppPUBLICATIONSppThe BannerppTelegramTownsppHometeamppThe ItemppWorcester LivingppWEBSITESppGone But Not ForgottenppMassMomsppTelegramTownsppPetsppWorcester LivingppNEWSLETTERSFEEDSppReader RecapppBreaking News AlertppKeyword Search NewsppHeadline NewsppBusiness NoonppRSS feedsppMobile Phone AlertsppThe Weekend Starts NOWppDELIVERYppPlace a new subscriptionppRenew a subscriptionppVacation stopsppBilling changesppAddress changesppHome delivery helpppTelegram Gazette Vacation Locations PDFppFAQppCELEBRATIONSppWeddingsppEngagementsppBirthdaysppAnniversariesppOtherppOrder formsppCLASSIFIEDSppLegal NoticesppReal EstateppMarketplaceppVideo MarketplaceppJobsppCarsppPetsppPlace An AdppWorcester Telegram Gazette Corp.ppPrivacy PolicyppSubmissions PolicyppSubscription ServicesppReprints licensingppTG RewardsppContact usppWork hereppAdvertise with usppAbout our adsppSite MapppThe accession of the agental iPstrop in apparent a assistantum bound for corpusclebuzzs. In Israel Jewish women are eager to have sex with Arab men

Jewish men are very bothered about Jewish girls having sex with Arab men.

What is the reason? Arabs are circumcised, too.

I think that it is due to the fact that Muslims do not circumcise babies, they mostly circumcise teenagers.

The later you are mutilating the penis of a boy, the smaller the probability that you cut off too much of the masculine member.

A baby has a very small penis, and if a Rabbi has a bad eyesight, then it is very probable, that something goes wrong during the operation.

According to statistic up to 10% Jewish males have problems with their member because of the botched circumcision.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has reported that while the exact incident of post-operative complications following a circumcision is unknown, it is thought to be between 2-10 per cent. One of the reasons for this is that many problems following circumcision do not become apparent until the child grows into adulthood.

http://menshealth.about.com/od/genit...ircum_comp.htm

Well, 10% is a very hight proportion!

May that be the reason why so many Jewish girls are dating Arab boys?

In any case, this seems to be a big problem in Israel, because Jewish men are fighting against this phenomena.

The holy war against Arab-Jewish relations and the Jerusalem lynch

Those who attacked Palestinians in central Jerusalem claimed they wanted to prevent them from speaking to Jewish girls. The fear of interracial relations once found only in the fringes of the right are now turning into a legitimate, mainstream political issue in national-religious circles.

...

Times have changed. The demand for racial purity is becoming mainstream, re-entering the Knesset through the front door. Leading rabbis, most of them state employees, have signed letters calling on Jewish homeowners to refrain from renting their apartments to Arabs, or warning Jewish girls against dating Arabs.

It?s a form of racism that treats women as the object of the (Jewish) man, his to keep within the tribe. It?s not surprising therefore that the calls to ban women from public life come from the same national-Orthodox circles who want to ?save? those women from Palestinian men.

I believe that only men with damaged penises can be so bothered about Jewish girls having sex with Arab men.

Studies more firmly tie sugary drinks to obesity

Graphic shows 2011 obesity rates in states across the nation

New research powerfully strengthens the case against soda and other sugary drinks as culprits in the obesity epidemic.

A huge, decades-long study involving more than 33,000 Americans has yielded the first clear proof that drinking sugary beverages interacts with genes that affect weight, amplifying a person's risk of obesity beyond what it would be from heredity alone.

This means that such drinks are especially harmful to people with genes that predispose them to weight gain. And most of us have at least some of these genes.

In addition, two other major experiments have found that giving children and teens calorie-free alternatives to the sugary drinks they usually consume leads to less weight gain.

Collectively, the results strongly suggest that sugary drinks cause people to pack on the pounds, independent of other unhealthy behavior such as overeating and getting too little exercise, scientists say.

That adds weight to the push for taxes, portion limits like the one just adopted in New York City, and other policies to curb consumption of soda, juice drinks and sports beverages sweetened with sugar.

Soda lovers do get some good news: Sugar-free drinks did not raise the risk of obesity in these studies.

"You may be able to fool the taste" and satisfy a sweet tooth without paying a price in weight, said an obesity researcher with no role in the studies, Rudy Leibel of Columbia University.

The studies were being presented Friday at an obesity conference in San Antonio and were published online by the New England Journal of Medicine.

The gene research in particular fills a major gap in what we know about obesity. It was a huge undertaking, involving three long-running studies that separately and collectively reached the same conclusions. It shows how behavior combines with heredity to affect how fat we become.

Having many of these genes does not guarantee people will become obese, but if they drink a lot of sugary beverages, "they fulfill that fate," said an expert with no role in the research, Jules Hirsch of Rockefeller University in New York. "The sweet drinking and the fatness are going together, and it's more evident in the genetic predisposition people."

Sugary drinks are the single biggest source of calories in the American diet, and they are increasingly blamed for the fact that a third of U.S. children and teens and more than two-thirds of adults are obese or overweight.

Consumption of sugary drinks and obesity rates have risen in tandem ? both have more than doubled since the 1970s in the U.S.

But that doesn't prove that these drinks cause obesity. Genes, inactivity and eating fatty foods or just too much food also play a role. Also, diet research on children is especially tough because kids are growing and naturally gaining weight.

Until now, high-quality experiments have not conclusively shown that reducing sugary beverages would lower weight or body fat, said David Allison, a biostatistician who has done beverage research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, some of it with industry support.

He said the new studies on children changed his mind and convinced him that limiting sweet drinks can make a difference.

In one study, researchers randomly assigned 224 overweight or obese high schoolers in the Boston area to receive shipments every two weeks of either the sugary drinks they usually consumed or sugar-free alternatives, including bottled water. No efforts were made to change the youngsters' exercise habits or give nutrition advice, and the kids knew what type of beverages they were getting.

After one year, the sugar-free group weighed more than 4 pounds less on average than those who kept drinking sugary beverages.

"I know of no other single food product whose elimination can produce this degree of weight change," said the study's leader, Dr. David Ludwig of Boston Children's Hospital and the Harvard School of Public Health.

The weight difference between the two groups narrowed to 2 pounds in the second year of the study, when drinks were no longer being provided. That showed at least some lasting beneficial effect on kids' habits. The study was funded mostly by government grants.

A second study involved 641 normal-weight children ages 4 to 12 in the Netherlands who regularly drank sugar-sweetened beverages. They were randomly assigned to get either a sugary drink or a sugar-free one during morning break at their schools, and were not told what kind they were given.

After 18 months, the sugary-drink group weighed 2 pounds more on average than the other group.

The studies "provide strong impetus" for policies urged by the Institute of Medicine, the American Heart Association and others to limit sugary drink consumption, Dr. Sonia Caprino of the Yale School of Medicine wrote in an editorial in the journal.

The American Beverage Association disagreed.

"Obesity is not uniquely caused by any single food or beverage," it said in a statement. "Studies and opinion pieces that focus solely on sugar-sweetened beverages, or any other single source of calories, do nothing meaningful to help address this serious issue."

The genetic research was part of a much larger set of health studies that have gone on for decades across the U.S., led by the Harvard School of Public Health.

Researchers checked for 32 gene variants that have previously been tied to weight. Because we inherit two copies of each gene, everyone has 64 opportunities for these risk genes. The study participants had 29 on average.

Every four years, these people answered detailed surveys about their eating and drinking habits as well as things like smoking and exercise. Researchers analyzed these over several decades.

A clear pattern emerged: The more sugary drinks someone consumed, the greater the impact of the genes on the person's weight and risk of becoming obese.

For every 10 risk genes someone had, the risk of obesity rose in proportion to how many sweet drinks the person regularly consumed. Overall calorie intake and lifestyle factors such as exercise did not account for the differences researchers saw.

This means that people with genes that predispose them to be obese are more susceptible to the harmful effects of sugary drinks on their weight, said one of the study leaders, Harvard's Dr. Frank Hu. The opposite also was true ? avoiding these drinks can minimize the effect of obesity genes.

"Two bad things can act together and their combined effects are even greater than either effect alone," Hu said. "The flip side of this is everyone has some genetic risk of obesity, but the genetic effects can be offset by healthier beverage choices. It's certainly not our destiny" to be fat, even if we carry genes that raise this risk.

The study was funded mostly by federal grants, with support from two drug companies for the genetic analysis.
