But the four-page indictment, returned by a grand jury in Riverside, offered few details beyond those contained in a criminal complaint filed earlier this month against the men, all U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The indictment charged?Ralph Kenneth Deleon, 23, Miguel Alejandro Vidriales Santana, 21, and?Arifeen David Gojali, 21, with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, the same charge contained in the complaint.

The filing of the indictment allows federal prosecutors to skip a preliminary hearing in which they would lay out their case and a judge would determine if there was enough evidence to merit a trial. The men each face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Galaxy Note II available from Verizon for $299 on November 29th

DEAR ABBY: My wife and I have been married for five years. I recently discovered that she made between 10 and 20 porn videos when she was 19. We got married when she was 27. We have four kids from two previous marriages.I am devastated. When I confronted her about it, she cried harder than I had ever seen. She said she was lost, and it's the biggest regret of her entire life.I understand how hard it can be to tell someone you have done something like this. I haven't led a perfect life either, and I have my own skeletons and things that I would never mention. But still, I can't get over this. ...

UK workplace pension pot charges should be revealed - new code

LONDON (Reuters) - Pension firms and insurers are calling for the costs taken automatically by people running UK pension schemes to be divulged to employers when they set up auto-enrolment schemes between 2012 and 2017.

Pension charges have dramatically reduced in recent years, and now stand at 0.52 percent of the value of an individual scheme, says the Association of British Insurers (ABI). But the little-known fees and levies can wipe tens of thousands of pounds off the value of a worker's workplace pension.

Private pension firms have been accused of failing to disclose some of the costs they levy on customers' investment funds, leaving people unaware that their pension savings were being eroded by the charges.

Industry associations have created a joint Code of Conduct for disclosing the charges made on workplace pensions for managing a retirement plan and its investments, the firms involved said in a statement on Wednesday.

The average so-called ?annual management charge' on a workplace pension scheme is 0.77 percent, the ABI said.

Umbrella organizations The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), the ABI, as well as the Investment Management Association and the Society of Pension Consultants want their members and participants in the pensions market to follow the practices set out by the code.

Employers will be able to chose which pension scheme they want based on the information on charges, costs and services.

UK pensions minister Steve Webb said he hoped to see "widespread adoption" of the code.

"However, we are prepared to consider taking action more broadly on charges if insufficient progress is made," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

In January 2013, the code will be available to use for a template for explaining charges, followed by the launch of a web tool in April 2013, which is being produced by the ABI.

The government backed auto-enrolment scheme, whereby people are required to opt out rather than opt into retirement saving, could lead to up to 8 million additional workers being signed up for pensions.

Consumer confidence hits more than 4-year high

3 hrs.

Consumer confidence rose to a four-and-a-half-year high in November as consumers became more optimistic about the outlook for the economy, according to a private sector report released on Tuesday.?

The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes rose to 73.7 up from an upwardly revised 73.1 the month before, its highest since February 2008. Economists had expected a reading of 73.0, according to a Reuters poll.?

October was originally reported as 72.2.?

"Over the past few months, consumers have grown increasingly more upbeat about the current and expected state of the job market, and this turnaround in sentiment is helping to boost confidence," Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board Consumer Research Center, said in a statement.?

The expectations index rose to 85.1 from 84.0, while the present situation index edged slightly lower to 56.6 from 56.7. The la

Consumers' labor market assessment was little changed in November. The "jobs hard to get" index was flat at 38.8 percent, while the "jobs plentiful" rose to 11.2 percent from 10.4 percent.?

"Despite the 'fiscal cliff,' Hurricane Sandy and a weaker stock market in November, households seem to be upbeat," said Ray Stone, economist and managing director for Stone & McCarthy Research Associates.?"That means they should be willing to spend money on Christmas. Shoppers won't be busting down doors, but sales should be pretty upbeat."?

Yarmouth personal trainer sweats for Alzheimer's fundraiser in her ...

YARMOUTH, Maine ? The hug was the last thing to go.

?Even when [my mom] didn?t recognize my face, she?d recognize my hugs,? Theresa Saxton said. ?She taught me how to hug, and I give these really big hugs. She would recognize me through those hugs and she would just cry, because it brought back something familiar.?

Theresa first realized her mother likely had Alzheimer?s disease the day after Thanksgiving 13 years ago, when Linda Sue Saxton was just 54 years old. Theresa Saxton had made roasted garlic as a side dish for the family feast, and her mother raved about how good it was.

The next morning, her mother denied ever having tried the roasted garlic, and became angry when Theresa pushed the issue.

?It was one of those moments when you know something?s not right ? it?s not your mom,? Theresa recalled. ?She got really, really angry. I realized afterward that she was probably scared because she couldn?t remember.?

What has transpired since then, she said, has been a painful process of lost memories and disappearing relationships that many Alzheimer?s sufferers and their families know all too well.

?It?s a wild journey going from limited conversation where she can say, ?I love you and miss you,? and recognize me by my hugs, to a place where she [can only mumble] and lacks mobility,? Theresa said.

Linda Sue Saxton now is in the late stages of the disease and lives with Theresa?s father and sister in upstate New York, just outside of Albany. Theresa visits about once a month.

?The hardest part is that she doesn?t look like my mom anymore,? said Theresa, who for the last nine years has lived in Yarmouth. ?It?s a very slow loss.?

But for many of her earliest years with the disease, her mother ?owned it? and kept a positive attitude, Theresa said.

?She immediately kind of accepted it,? she recalled. ?She would introduce herself and say, ?Hi, my name is Linda and I have Alzheimer?s, so I apologize if I forget some things.??

The experience has motivated Theresa ? who owns Fitness Success Personal Training at 94 Main St. ? to develop a new, upbeat fundraiser for Alzheimer?s research and care.

Theresa, a personal trainer, is letting her clients ? and anyone else who wants to get some light-hearted revenge on personal trainers ? make her sweat. Donors can buy sets of exercises, or minutes on a workout machine of one kind or another, which Theresa will have to perform at her fitness studio starting the morning of Dec. 1.

Donors can come by and sip mimosas or nibble on bagels and revel in seeing Theresa, who admitted to sometimes turning up the resistance on her clients? exercise bikes to push them just a little harder, working her tail off.

Theresa said she set a goal of $1,550, with sets of 12 reps going for between $15 and $25, and she?s already surpassed it. The money will benefit the Maine chapter of the Alzheimer?s Association.

?I think I was probably aiming a little low, because of all the trouble I?ve had over the years doing fundraisers,? she said.

Or because she underestimated the what-goes-around-comes-around factor.

?Everybody?s definitely having fun with it,? said Theresa, who wants to make her ?Train the Trainer? benefit an annual event. ?[I might be working out] a really long time.?

To donate, visit Theresa Saxton?s website fitness-success.biz/trainthetrainer or mail a check, made out to the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer?s Association, to 94 Main St., Yarmouth 04096.

Romantic Proposal: Reddit User Hangs 100 LED Lights From Tree (PHOTOS)

Marriage proposals don't get much more romantic than this, folks.

On Monday, Reddit user thekidd142 posted photos of his LED-lit marriage proposal to his girlfriend, knitnotpurl, in a thread titled, "Last week I proposed to my girlfriend of 3 years and this is how I did it. I had to wait for her to stop crying before I could even ask her to marry me."

Thekidd142 wrote that he and a few friends spent four to five hours cutting wire and attaching it to more than 100 mason jars. The day of the proposal, they went to knitnotpurl's family farm and spent another five hours placing LED lights inside the jars and hanging them from her favorite tree.

"We had to turn them on as we hung them so I was a little worried that the tree would burn down or that they would be out of battery by the time my girlfriend and I drove back out. But things as they were, we got there after sunset and it was more beautiful than I had even expected it to be," thekidd142 wrote.

Knitnotpurl said "yes," and wrote that she was surprised about the tree, but not the proposal.

"To be honest he's not really a romantic guy...or I thought he wasn't," she wrote. "He has obviously proven he can be very romantic. All the more reason to say yes!"

Check out a super-sweet Central Park proposal in the slideshow below.

'Pac-Man' moons: Cassini finds a video gamers' paradise at Saturn

ScienceDaily (Nov. 26, 2012) ? You could call this "Pac-Man, the Sequel." Scientists with NASA's Cassini mission have spotted a second feature shaped like the 1980s video game icon in the Saturn system, this time on the moon Tethys. (The first was found on Mimas in 2010). The pattern appears in thermal data obtained by Cassini's composite infrared spectrometer, with warmer areas making up the Pac-Man shape.

"Finding a second Pac-Man in the Saturn system tells us that the processes creating these Pac-Men are more widespread than previously thought," said Carly Howett, the lead author of a paper recently released online in the journal Icarus. "The Saturn system -- and even the Jupiter system -- could turn out to be a veritable arcade of these characters."

Scientists theorize that the Pac-Man thermal shape on the Saturnian moons occurs because of the way high-energy electrons bombard low latitudes on the side of the moon that faces forward as it orbits around Saturn. The bombardment turns that part of the fluffy surface into hard-packed ice. As a result, the altered surface does not heat as rapidly in the sunshine or cool down as quickly at night as the rest of the surface, similar to how a boardwalk at the beach feels cooler during the day but warmer at night than the nearby sand. Finding another Pac-Man on Tethys confirms that high-energy electrons can dramatically alter the surface of an icy moon. Also, because the altered region on Tethys, unlike on Mimas, is also bombarded by icy particles from Enceladus' plumes, it implies the surface alteration is occurring more quickly than its recoating by plume particles.

"Studies at infrared wavelengths give us a tremendous amount of information about the processes that shape planets and moons," said Mike Flasar, the spectrometer's principal investigator at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. "A result like this underscores just how powerful these observations are."

Scientists saw the new Pac-Man on Tethys in data obtained on Sept. 14, 2011, where daytime temperatures inside the mouth of Pac-Man were seen to be cooler than their surroundings by 29 degrees Fahrenheit (15 kelvins). The warmest temperature recorded was a chilly minus 300 degrees Fahrenheit (90 kelvins), which is actually slightly cooler than the warmest temperature at Mimas (about minus 290 degrees Fahrenheit, or 95 kelvins). At Tethys, unlike Mimas, the Pac-Man pattern can also be seen subtly in visible-light images of the surface, as a dark lens-shaped region. This brightness variation was first noticed by NASA's Voyager spacecraft in 1980.

"Finding a new Pac-Man demonstrates the diversity of processes at work in the Saturn system," said Linda Spilker, Cassini project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. "Future Cassini observations may reveal other new phenomena that will surprise us and help us better understand the evolution of moons in the Saturn system and beyond."

Knight Capital in talks for sale of market-making unit: WSJ

(Reuters) - Knight Capital Group Inc is in talks about possibly selling its market-making operation, its largest and most profitable business, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people briefed on the discussions.

The securities firm has been approached by at least two rivals about its market-making operation, which uses complicated computer models to match buy and sell orders in stocks and options.

Knight's board of directors is expected to get separate proposals next week for the market-making business from high-speed trading firms Getco LLC and Virtu Financial LLC, the Journal reported, citing the people who were briefed. Other potential buyers also could approach the board about that business and perhaps others.

Getco and Virtu spokespeople declined comment on the report. A Knight spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.

The unit had $663.8 million in pretax profits from 2009 to 2011 but suffered a loss of $400.9 million in this year's first nine months because of a software glitch that flooded the market with errant trades on August 1.

Column: OK, SEC haters, time to resume griping

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) ? OK, all you SEC haters.

Time to get revved up again.

The league that everyone outside the South loves to despise has staked out its usual place in the championship hierarchy after Super Saturday, a coast-to-coast buffet of college football's greatest rivalries.

Either Alabama or Georgia is assured of playing for the national title.

And the Southeastern Conference even had a backup plan, the Florida Gators, ready to step in if top-ranked Notre Dame faltered in the last big game of the day against Southern Cal.

Sound familiar?

Just last year, Alabama defeated LSU in an All-SEC matchup for the BCS championship.

No matter what, the conference will have at least one representative in the final game of the year, and rest assured that either No. 2 Alabama or No. 3 Georgia would be a solid favorite to beat the Fighting Irish and give the SEC its seventh straight national title.

The Crimson Tide cruised into the SEC championship game on a high after thumping Auburn 49-0 in the Mismatch Bowl (sorry, the Iron Bowl moniker just doesn't fit at the moment), surely bringing the Gene Chizik era to an inglorious end just two years after he guided the Tigers to a national championships.

Georgia will be waiting in Atlanta as the East Division winner for the second year in a row, finishing off its regular season with a 42-10 blowout of Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs are our Comeback Team of the Year, somehow finding a way to get back in the mix after taking a four-touchdown whipping at South Carolina.

"The chance to win our league at the end of the year is huge. That means a lot to us," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "What happens beyond that, of course, will be decided by the voters and all those kind of things. But it does look like the winner of that (SEC title) game ... more than likely will end up playing for the national championship. So that's exciting to think about."

Before the rest of the nation could blurt out, "not again," Florida positioned itself in the scavenger position with a 37-26 triumph over Florida State. The Seminoles were hoping to follow the Alabama Plan, Version 2.011, by earning a shot in the Jan. 7 title game in Miami even though it lost out to Georgia in its own division.

The Gators were fourth in the BCS standings a week ago and did nothing to hurt their position, stunning the Seminoles and the crowd in Tallahassee with a 24-point outburst in the fourth quarter. As soon as that one ended, coach Will Muschamp and his players headed off to root for the Trojans, hoping they could take down Notre Dame.

Oregon was the only other team with a shot, but the Ducks are likely to remain stuck behind the three SEC teams, even after an impressive 48-24 win over Oregon State in that state's version of the Civil War.

Hard to believe, but the SEC seemed down and out just a couple of weeks ago. Alabama was knocked off by conference newcomer Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa, leaving three non-SEC teams ? Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame ? in the lead positions.

Three-fourths of the nation rejoiced.

Its long, Dixie-induced nightmare seemed over.

Of course, everything flipped again seven days later.

Oregon lost. Kansas State lost. Just like that, Alabama and Georgia were right back in the prime positions.

The Tide and the Bulldogs closed the deal Saturday against overmatched opponents, proving once again the SEC has, if nothing else, an impeccable sense of timing. Outside of Notre Dame, every team in the mix had one loss. But Oregon and Kansas State lost last, so they get shortchanged.

Ohio State might have messed things up, finishing off a 12-0 debut season for coach Urban Meyer with a victory over Michigan. But the Buckeyes are on NCAA probation because of Tattoo-gate, the championship dreams pushed off into the future by some shady ink. They look like the sort of program that can challenge the SEC's dominance, but not this year.

Maybe the new four-team playoff will even things up a bit. Surely, it can't hurt, because the SEC clearly has this system all figured out.

"I knew the way the SEC works," Georgia defensive back Sanders Commings said, savoring the big win over the Yellow Jackets in the locker room beneath Sanford Stadium. "I knew we could beat everybody else on our schedule. I was like, 'Man, we've just got to win out.'"

There will be those who say the SEC is living on its reputation, that the league isn't nearly as strong from top-to-bottom this season as it's been in other years. That's a pretty compelling argument, too. Neither Auburn nor Kentucky won an SEC game. Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas are looking for new coaches, and Auburn will surely be joining the list of schools with a vacancy.

But, for those at the top, there's another chance to play for a national title.

For the rest of the nation, that playoff system can't get here fast enough.

Roche's Avastin does not improve survival rates in brain cancer study

Diabetes recall

ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss drugmaker Roche's cancer drug Avastin failed to make a statistically significant difference to survival rates of patients with a common form of brain cancer in a late-stage study, the company said on Saturday.

The Phase III AVAglio study presented at the Society for Neuro-Oncology congress in Washington on Saturday showed Avastin, combined with radiation and chemotherapy, reduced the risk of cancer worsening or death, the Basel-based drugmaker said in a news release.

But the drug did not reach statistical significance in overall survival, a key data point. Further data are expected next year, Roche said.

"The interim results for overall survival (OS), the other co-primary endpoint, did not reach statistical significance," the company said in the statement.

Earlier data from the study published in August showed Avastin significantly extended progression-free survival of people with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Avastin is Roche's third-biggest seller and is approved to treat several types of cancer, including breast, kidney, colorectal and ovarian cancers.

Wal-Mart moves up dividend to avoid "fiscal cliff'

(Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Monday became the biggest corporation yet to move its planned dividend into late December from early January to help shareholders avoid a looming jump in the tax rate due to the so-called fiscal cliff.

The shift by the world's largest retailer will give shareholders, including the family of founder Sam Walton, roughly $1.34 billion in total dividend payments taxed at the current rate.

Fiscal years for retailers typically end in late January, so their dividend payments often are timed differently from those of other types of companies. Exxon Mobil Corp, for instance, had already planned for payouts in December.

"There are complex fiscal and federal tax rate issues that may not be resolved in the next few weeks, despite the ongoing good faith negotiations between the administration and Congress to resolve details related to the fiscal cliff," Wal-Mart said in a statement.

"In light of this uncertainty, the board determined that moving our dividend payment up by a few days to 2012 was in the best interests of our shareholders."

Teen apparel chains Hot Topic Inc and The Buckle Inc already said they would move dividends typically paid in January into December to allow shareholders to benefit from the lower tax rate set to expire this year.

Adding to what has become a clamor for the White House and legislators on Capitol Hill to compromise, the Fitch ratings agency said on Monday that the "fiscal cliff" could trigger a recession and push the unemployment rate above 10 percent.

Fitch said it did not expect the tax hikes and spending cuts to occur. The investment firm Morgan Stanley Smith Barney also said in a market commentary on Monday that it thought Washington would "act to mitigate and delay" the cliff.

Robert Greifeld, chief executive of NASDAQ, the second-largest stock exchange, called on Democrats and Republicans to rediscover the ability to compromise and commit to a long-term plan to reduce the national debt.

Republicans must budge on tax increases and Democrats must give ground on spending cuts, Greifeld said in a Monday speech at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think-tank.

SPOTLIGHT ON DIVIDEND TAXES

Without action from Congress, the dividend tax rate will rise to the ordinary income tax rates, as high as 39.6 percent for top earners. Dividends are now taxed at 15 percent for the top four brackets and zero at the bottom.

In 2003, President George W. Bush and Congress cut taxes on capital gains and dividends, which mostly affect high-income taxpayers. These cuts are set to expire at the end of 2012.

President Barack Obama proposed raising dividend taxes back to ordinary income tax rates in his most recent budget, but many Washington insiders believe Democrats will settle on a rate of 20 percent if a deal is struck.

The Democratic-led Senate passed a bill this year extending the disputed Bush-era tax rates for the middle class and letting rates for the wealthiest taxpayers go up.

But within that legislation, Senate Democrats proposed a 20 percent dividend tax rate - not Obama's preferred higher rate. Add in the new investment tax from Obama's health care law, and dividend taxes would rise to 23.8 percent.

Dividend-paying companies including Altria Group Inc, AT&T Inc and Verizon Communications Inc are among those pressing lawmakers to avoid a tax hike, with executives and surrogates making frequent visits to Capitol Hill.

The family of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton owns roughly half the company's shares and probably would pay much higher taxes on dividends paid after December 31 unless Congress takes action.

Two of Sam Walton's sons, Rob Walton and Jim Walton, are board members, and Chairman Rob Walton's son-in-law, Gregory Penner, is also on the board. The Waltons and Penner recused themselves from the board discussion and vote on the dividend date change, Wal-Mart said.

Rob Walton and Jim Walton are the 9th and 7th richest Americans, respectively, according to Forbes. Two other members of the Walton family are also listed in the top 10.

Wal-Mart's board approved changing the payment date of the quarterly dividend of 39.75 cents per share to December 27 from January 2. The record date associated with the payout remains December 7.

Shares of Wal-Mart rose almost 1.5 percent to close at $69.02 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Wal-Mart Fights Back on Black Friday Strike | KTXL FOX40

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) ? As Wal-Mart workers prepare to stage a walkout on Black Friday, the world?s largest store is fighting back.

Wal-Mart has filed a complaint with a federal agency accusing one of the largest labor unions in the country of unlawfully organizing picket lines, in-store ?flash mobs? and other demonstrations in the past six months.

In its complaint Thursday, Wal-Mart said the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and it?s subsidiary known as OURWalmart, of trying to force it into collective bargaining even though it is not the official union for Wal-Mart?s employees. The UFCW represents over 1 million meat packers and food industry workers.

The complaint comes just days before Wal-Mart workers? plan to stage nationwide walkouts on Black Friday, arguably the biggest holiday shopping day for any U.S. store. Union-backed groups OUR Walmart and Making Change at Wal-Mart, along with a watchdog group Corporate Action Network are calling on the country?s largest employer to end what they call retaliation against employees who speak out for better pay, fair schedules and affordable health care.

The planned walkouts build on an October strike that started at a Wal-Mart in Los Angeles and spread to stores in 12 other cities. More than 100 workers joined in the October actions.

Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar pointed out in a statement that the number of workers participating in the walkout is a ?very small minority? of its 1.3 million workforce. Tovar said that Black Friday is like the ?Superbowl? for retailers and that Wal-Mart is ready.

?If [the store employees] are scheduled to work, we expect them to show up and do their job. If they don?t, depending on the circumstances, there could be consequences,? said Tovar.

In a letter to UFCW?s general council sent on Friday, Wal-Mart said the workers? ongoing actions violate the National Labor Relations Act, which prohibits picketing for any period over 30 days without filing a representation petition. The retailer said the actions have disrupted business.

?The UFCW has orchestrated numerous pickets, mass demonstrations, flash mobs and other confrontational activities both inside and outside Wal-Mart facilities in support of its bargaining and recognition demands,? wrote Wal-Mart lawyer Steven Wheeless. ?Now, with the busiest shopping season of the year just days away, the UFCW is openly orchestrating and promoting attempted mass disruptions of Wal-Mart?s customer shopping experience.?

OURWalmart organizers say they have 1,000 events planned this week. Support for the campaign, which has been gaining momentum across social media platforms, is mounting: The organization?s Facebook page now has more than 28,000 ?likes? and its accompanying YouTube video has been watched over 103,000 times.

The organizers have also collected more than $36,000 in online donations to sponsor workers who walk out.

?We remain focused like a laser about trying to build a bigger coalition and support workers as they build their organizations to challenge Wal-Mart stores,? said OURWalmart?s president Dan Schlademan.

Wal-Mart said that while it respects its workers federally-protected right to express concerns, it will also act to protect its stores and customers ?from illegal and unprotected conduct that threatens safety or business operations,? such as protestors trespassing on Wal-Mart grounds and interfering with business.

Wal-Mart is rolling out Black Friday deals starting at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving this year, two hours earlier than it did last year.

Shares of the company were down nearly 6% last week.

Revise hiring processes to comply with S.B. 337 ? Business ...

A new Ohio law designed to make convicted criminals more employable means you must immediately review your hiring practices.

Ohio Senate Bill 337 lets job applicants ?seal? one felony conviction and one misdemeanor conviction or two misdemeanor convictions. That means they need not disclose those convictions when applying for jobs. Additionally, many juvenile offenses need not be reported. In return, em??ployers are granted partial immunity from certain negligent hiring lawsuits.

The law took effect Sept. 28.

S.B. 337 also assists employers that require state licenses by providing qualified applicants with a Certificate for Qualification for Employment. Employers are immune to any negligent hiring lawsuits for individuals possessing the certificate, unless the employee ?subsequently demonstrates dangerousness or is convicted of or pleads guilty to a felony, and if the employer retains the individual as an employee after the demonstration of dangerousness or the conviction or guilty plea.?

Possessing the certificate does not entitle the employee to any preferential treatment after he or she is hired. It merely certifies that the person may hold the applicable license at the time of hire.

Advice: Consult with your attorney to determine if your job applications, descriptions and advertisements comply with the law.

Brandon Carter, a former offensive tackle for Texas Tech University who WWE signed this year to a developmental contract and now performs under the name TAC, posted a multitude of messages on his Twitter account Saturday criticizing the product of his employer.

As a life-long WWE fan and owner of over 900 action figures, Carter says the company's shows have been "on repeat" for ten years and that fans deserve change. The football-player-turned-grappler wants to be the one to bring change to WWE, even going as far to put his job on the line.

"I am here to bring change to #wwe to give power to the people instead of telling you what to love #TACRevolution," he wrote to a fan.

"Not one person in developmental or #wwe have the accolades that I do, yet they act like they are deserved something. #wwe you deserve more! Same generic cookie cutter wrestlers. ONE speaks out and he's a REVOLUTION starter? Change is coming! #wwe you deserve it! #TAC REVOLUTION."

Carter continued, "#wwe you deserve a REAL REVOLUTION. A revolution is not taking the mic from @JohnCena FOLLOW ME! I ill bring you to a REVOLUTION! #TAC.

"Everybody is afraid of getting fired and that's why they play it safe! Thats why what you #wwe fans get is all the same old stuff

"Don't you #wwe fans want something new? A real revolution? A real change? Demand it. I will lead you #TAC revolution.

"not afraid to get fired. It's happened before. But if I don't attempt to make a change in what I love, that means I failed all of you #wwe

"I'm sure right now people are squirming in their seats in Connecticut! But we all know what needs to be done #wwe #TAC revolution follow me!

"Don't all of you want change?Do you feel like you've been watching the same show on repeat since '02?Get behind me and we will make a change.

"I can't lower your taxes, or bring you health care. But what I can do is bring change to what you love, #wwe #TACRevolution

"No one will stand up for what they believe in because they are a puppet to the "machine" I have cut my own strings to bring you change! #wwe."

Microsoft Windows 8 Sales - Business Insider

Really bad news for Microsoft

Sales of its brand new operating system, Windows 8, are "well below projections," inside the company?says Paul Thurott at Windows SuperSite.?

Thurott is probably the most plugged-in Microsoft reporter. When he says something, you can trust it.?

He says sales are being described internally as "disappointing."

Microsoft is blaming its PC partners for the slow start, says Thurott. His source blamed PC makers "inability to deliver".

This is a strange, and frankly pathetic, explanation.?

There's no question Apple makes the best laptops and companies like HP, Dell, and Asus, chase after what Apple makes.?

But the PC makers are still reliant on Microsoft and its software. And they can only sell computers running on Windows.

The only real explanation of worse than expected sales is that Microsoft decided to mess with the world's most popular operating system and it's blowing up in its face.?

As Thurott puts it: "Microsoft?s new whatever-the-F-it-is operating system is a confusing, Frankenstein?s monster mix of old and new that hides a great desktop upgrade under a crazy Metro front-end."

Microsoft took a big risk with Windows 8 trying to make it more touch friendly. It has confused consumers. With Apple's iPad providing a good enough alternate to a full on laptop, Microsoft's Windows franchise is at risk.

Lindsay Lohan pushed for Elizabeth Taylor TV role

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Lindsay Lohan so wanted to play Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming film "Liz & Dick" that she cut out the middle man and went straight to the producer herself, the tabloid-favorite star said in an interview on Friday.

Lohan, 26, plays Taylor in an upcoming television movie that dramatizes the long love affair between the late Hollywood legend and actor Richard Burton.

"It's a funny story, actually. I had seen that they were going to be making the movie and I got the producers' numbers and started harassing (producer) Larry Thompson," Lohan said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"I didn't even care if my agents were going to do it or not, I just did it myself, too," the "Mean Girls" actress said. "Because I was like, 'No one else is going to play this role, I have to do this.'"

Early reviews of "Liz & Dick," which premieres on U.S. cable channel Lifetime on November 25, have ranged from middling to poor. But TV critics noted the similarities between Lohan and Taylor, both often-troubled actresses who started life as child stars.

"'Liz & Dick' truly drags," said the Hollywood Reporter. "Luckily, you can't take your eyes off of Lohan playing Taylor, which the producers clearly thought would work because they share similar back stories."

Lohan's acting alongside New Zealand's Grant Bowler as Burton was described by Variety on Friday as "adequate, barring a few awkward moments, thanks largely to the fabulous frocks and makeup ... she gets to model."

Lohan's reputation, much like Taylor's, has been built from her tabloid persona more than on-screen performance.

In and out of legal trouble, jail and rehab since 2007, Lohan faced media blow-back this week after canceling an in-depth interview with ABC's Barbara Walters, who said she suspected the actress' publicity team pulled the plug knowing Walters would ask tough questions.

The Nature of Prostate Cancer - Darien, CT Patch

My husband, sister-in-law and I sat together with my father-in-law as he breathed his last breaths. Dying from complications from prostate cancer, Paul endured dozens of difficult, painful and intrusive treatments. His quality of life had been poor for many years. He accepted this bravely, but when the end came?which was five years ago this past Saturday?it was a relief.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 2012 will see the diagnoses of another 241,740 new cases of PC. And although prostate cancer affects as many men as breast cancer does women, there is a lack of public awareness of this life-changing disease that must be addressed.

Breast cancer advocacy organizations have done an outstanding job raising funds and awareness for their cause. As many readers are no doubt aware, October saw an outpouring of pink ribbons in sports, on billboards and in the news as survivors, family members and volunteers stepped forward to help end this terrible disease.

Yet aside from skin cancer, the CDC reports that PC is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in men. African Americans and men with close hereditary ties to PC are more susceptible to the disease. Thankfully, hospitals have stepped up screening efforts, and as a result, incidence rates have declined steadily since 2004.

Unfortunately, it is still the second-leading cause of death among American men. Nearly 29,000 will succumb this year from prostate cancer. Since the disease itself usually offers no symptoms in its early stages, many men find themselves facing difficult treatment options as the disease progresses.

Advanced disease symptoms nearly always include difficulty with urination. Increased frequency, difficulty starting or stopping urination, evidence of blood, a burning sensation and weak or interrupted flow commonly occur. If it has spread to the bones, victims tend to feel pain in the hips, spine, ribs and more, according to the CDC.

There is no consensus on a ?best? way to treat prostate cancer, even in its earliest stages. Laparoscopic surgery and radiation treatments are common early, while chemotherapy is often used later. Hormones, Paul?s initial treatment, are also still used; unfortunately, at some point the cancer becomes hormone-refractory (meaning, the hormone treatment is no longer effective).

Men with hormone refractory prostate cancer may be appropriate candidates for Provenge, a recently developed vaccine that prolongs life when chemotherapy and hormones no longer work. And Zytiga, the CDC reports, is a new drug that treats metastatic HRPC patients.

Although the United States leads the way in medical research in any number of areas, the traditional American approach to treating prostate cancer differs greatly with the method of treatment in Europe. While American doctors recommend early screening and treatment?even though a recent study counter-indicated early screening effectiveness at saving lives? historically, European doctors have preferred the wait-and-see approach.

Here?s the rationale: Because prostate cancer cells are often slow growers, and the treatment options for prostate cancer frequently cause impotence, pain, discomfort, weight loss and reduced immunity to other illnesses, these doctors feel it?s simply better to let the disease run its course. In other words, these doctors advise their patients to (potentially) trade length of life for one of higher quality.

Recent evidence suggests, however, that European patients are unwilling to adopt this relaxed approach.

Paul was originally diagnosed in 1991 after an unexplained illness wouldn?t clear up. When his physicians discovered the cancer, it was stage 4 and it had metastasized throughout his body. His doctors estimated he had a 10 percent chance of survival.

Miraculously, through hormone treatment, he went into remission; unfortunately, the cancer returned with a vengeance just after he retired.

During the last years of his life, we watched helplessly as he underwent endless rounds of chemotherapy that depleted his energy and his appetite. A simple tooth extraction caused excruciating pain in his jaw, from which he never recovered and rendered eating even the softest of foods difficult.

He was unable to drive or care for himself without assistance from others. Methadone and morphine were the painkillers of choice in his long cocktail of daily medicines. He was happy to see us visit?Paul still lived on Long Island and we drove there nearly every weekend for more than a year to visit him before he died?but he grew increasingly quiet as the prognosis grew dimmer and dimmer.

It was the only time I have ever been with someone when they passed. He squeezed our hands, gasped quietly, and fell still.

I knew then two things for certain. The first is that I do not want to be alone when I die. The second? Family is everything.?

Two Legendary Sport Rivalries In The Making | recreation and ...

In sports, a rivalry is one of the major ingredients to bring the best out of individual players and teams. It's not only good for the players but also the fans. It shows us the great things that the human will has to offer because rivalries are usually a battle of wills. We would never be able to compare the difference of the Manning bothers' games. Rivalries make winning traditions much sweeter than just playing with a team you don't have a history with.

Here are some of the great sports rivalries in the recent years.

The Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots Rivalry

Though these two teams have been division rivals for a while since 1970 but it wasn't until Indianapolis was relocated to another division that their rivalry became more recognized in the NFL. The rivalry stemmed out from the comparison of their two great quarterbacks in the Patriot and Colts roster at the time. The Patriots seem to be in control at first claiming 6 consecutive victories against the Colts.

The colts had their chance to redeem their losses when they won three consecutive times against the Patriots including in the year they took home the Super Bowl win. Two really close games followed where each team took one win each. The last game was claimed by the Patriots which the Colts almost stole again. To know their chances of meeting each other in the playoffs, check the Patriots and Colts schedule.

The Miami Heat Vs the Boston Celtics

One of the newest rivalries is between the two Eastern Conference contenders; Miami and Boston. The Heat do not have a history as rich as the Boston Celtics' but they suddenly became a fitting opponent in the Eastern Conference when they acquired their big three two seasons ago. At this point, the Celtics already had their own aging big three in Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen and an emerging point guard in Rajon Rondo.

In the games that mattered or the NBA playoffs, Miami ended the Boston Celtics' season two years in a row. The Miami heat proceeded to be title contenders and they did claim the NBA title in their second shot at it. Because Ray Allen; one of the Celtics' big three, transferred to the Heat in the preseason, the rivalry became even more interesting. It's sad that these two teams can't meet in the finals but the playoffs is the best chance we get.

PFT: Reid's exit likely, but not yet a certainty

Denver Broncos wide receiver Holliday celebrates after a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers during an NFL football game in CharlotteReuters

The NFL office admitted Monday a pair of relatively obvious and egregious officiating errors, including one that allowed a bogus touchdown to stand and one that let the clock run for over a minute when it shouldn?t have.

The league sent out statements effectively apologizing for both.

Broncos punt returner Trindon Holliday?s 76-yard punt return should have been reviewed but wasn?t, after he flipped the ball to the ground before crossing the goal line. Had it been reviewed, the points would have come off the board, and the Panthers would have been given the ball at the 20 after a touchback, with the game tied 7-7 in the second quarter (and Brian Murphy might still have a job today).

?Because the video showed that Holliday lost possession of the ball before it broke the plane of the goal line, [replay official Bob] Boylston should have stopped the game to initiate an instant replay review,? the statement said.

?Had that occurred, [referee Al] Riveron would have had the indisputable visual evidence necessary to overturn the on-field ruling.?

In San Francisco, the problems didn?t involve points, but mass confusion during a spot and measurement took 79 seconds out of a game that stayed tied at the end of the other 73:41.

?No member of the officiating crew recognized that the clock was incorrectly started by the clock operator during the measurement,? the statement said. ?Once the next snap occurs, there is no mechanism to adjust the clock. Matters of timing are not reviewable by instant replay.

?The clock operator is employed by the Officiating Department at the league office. The clock procedures will be carefully reviewed this week with all game officials and clock operators to avoid further clock mistakes.?

Bad week at the office for the refs. Can you imagine if they had to keep working with replacements?

Did the Samsung Galaxy S3 really outsell Apple's iPhone 4S in Q3 2012?

Did the Samsung Galaxy S3 really outsell Apple's iPhone 4S in Q3 2012?

Did the Samsung Galaxy S3 really outsell Apple's iPhone 4S in Q3 2012? A bunch of technology blogs linked to a press release that claimed it did, so it must be true, right? The press release was put out by the impressively named Strategy Analytics and headlined Samsung Galaxy S3 Becomes World's Best-Selling Smartphone Model in Q3 2012, so they can no doubt back up that claim, right? Well, wait, what did the lede say?

According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, Samsung?s Galaxy S3 overtook Apple?s iPhone 4S to become the world?s best-selling smartphone model for the first time ever in the third quarter of 2012. A large touchscreen, extensive distribution and generous operator subsidies have propelled the Galaxy S3 to the top spot.

And what was senior analyst from Strategy Analytics, Neil Shah, quoted as saying?

Samsung?s Galaxy S3 smartphone model shipped 18.0 million units worldwide during the third quarter of 2012. The Galaxy S3 captured an impressive 11 percent share of all smartphones shipped globally and it has become the world?s best-selling smartphone model for the first time ever. A large touchscreen design, extensive distribution across dozens of countries, and generous operator subsidies have been among the main causes of the Galaxy S3?s success. Apple shipped an estimated 16.2 million iPhone 4S units worldwide for second place, as consumers temporarily held off purchases in anticipation of a widely expected iPhone 5 upgrade at the end of the quarter.

Hang on, the quote doesn't match the headline and lede there, does it? Why use "selling" in the headline and lede, and "shipping" in the quote? Which is it? Why use "selling" at all if they're talking about "shipping", or vice versa? What does "selling" mean? What does "shipping" mean? Are they counting only devices actually sold to customers or devices stuffed into channels, sitting on shelves, or dumped into return bins?

How did they get numbers for the Galaxy S3 when Samsung doesn't disclose device-specific sales numbers in their quarterly financials? Did they take Samsung's recent press release, which claimed 30-million sold from May to October, divide by 5 and multiply by 3 to get 18? Did they assume no change in sales acceleration occurred at all during that period?

How did they get numbers for the iPhone 4S when Apple, who does disclose iPhone sales numbers, doesn't break them down by model? Did they take Apple's 26.9 million July to September iPhone sales number, shift it a month forward, and... um... ah...?

Does it matter that the Galaxy S3 is actually two nearly identical looking, but internally different phones that use completely different processor architectures -- the Samsung Exynos 4 Quad sold internationally, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 sold in North America and Japan -- and are simply sold under the same brand name?

The iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are also nearly identical looking phones that have different processor architectures, should they be considered together for this report? Is an "S" more of a differentiator than an "International" or "North American"?

Why even put out a press release on a metrics report that so conflates and confounds the very metrics it purports to deliver that the headline and lede can't even be supported by the contents? Why re-blog that press release without questioning why the headline and lede don't match the content of the release?

And if the Galaxy S3 really did outsell the iPhone 4S in Q3, 2012, why not give Samsung, Apple, investors, and consumers something that answers more questions than it raises?

Pond Hockey Tournament to Return to Lake St. Clair - New ...

Organizers of the Nautical Mile Pond Hockey Winter Classic are hoping for a traditional winter this year to allow for a weekend of outdoor hockey games on Lake St. Clair.

The inaugural tournament had been planned for this past January, but unseasonably warm temperatures and a lack of ice led to the cancellation of the event.

Even though Mother Nature didn't cooperate, there is still a large amount of interest in the event by sponsors, organizers and teams.

"All the ground work was set out last year," said Greg Esler, St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation director. "We are excited about it."

The 4-on-4 adult pond hockey tournament event is scheduled for Jan. 25-27 on the canals next to Brownie's on the Lake, which is the host restaurant for the event.

The outdoor tournament for players 21-years-old and older, and each team will have at least three games, with?semi-finals and championships on Sunday.?

Esler said 26 teams have already registered for the tournament this year, and many of the previous sponsors have returned including Roy O'Brien Ford, Emerald City Marina, Budweiser, Henry Ford Health System and Superior Ambulance.

Donna Flaherty, president of the Nautical Mile Merchants Association which is also a sponsor, said the tournament will boost mid-winter business along the restaurant and marina district, and in the city.

"It is going to bring people to the Nautical Mile," Flaherty said. "We are looking forward to welcoming them to the city."
